One of the things planners are supposed to do is understand people – different kinds of people from different backgrounds, with different wants and needs, different lifestyles, etc. This constant inquiry into the lives of others is one of the things I love most about my job and I’m fascinated when I read about lives of others that are completely different from my own.

I’ve recently taken to reading Snickollet and The Merry Widow, blogs written by widows with children. They’re powerful, honest, insightful, heartbreaking, and make me really reflect on what I have and truly appreciate each day with Jason. That said, it’s a BAD idea to start reading widow blogs four weeks before getting married. While yes, it makes me appreciate Jason that much more, it also makes me mildly psychotic thinking about what I would do if anything ever happened to him. It makes me want to keep him in the house at all times, and when he leaves the house I tell him multiple times that I love him and encourage him to drive safe. SERIOUSLY, DRIVE SAFE.

My heart goes out to all of the widows/widowers, I can’t imagine your pain and selfishly, I hope I never have to experience something like that.
